FARMINGTON, MI — According to studies emphasized by Thorne Research and nearby healthcare practitioners, new clinical evidence supports the safety and effectiveness of supplementing with Berberine Phytosomes in people using numerous common drugs.
A naturally occurring alkaloid present in a number of plants, berberine has drawn a lot of interest from the medical community due to its remarkable range of health advantages, which include antibacterial, lipid-lowering, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory effects. It has established itself as a viable option for frequent supplementation among health-conscious people due to its exceptional capacity to target several pathways implicated in oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, and fibrosis.
Concerns about possible interactions with prescription drugs have grown in frequency as berberine supplementation gains popularity globally, especially among people who are managing chronic illnesses. A recent pilot registry study examined the safety profile of Berberine Phytosome in conjunction with a number of commonly prescribed drugs in order to allay this worry.
Participants in the study were given 550 mg of Berberine Phytosome twice a day for ten days to eight weeks. Participants included people on a range of medications, such as anticoagulants (coumarin, Dabigatran, and Rivarobaxan), antihypertensive ACE inhibitors, the antidiabetic drug metformin, thyroid hormone replacement therapy levothyroxine, and antiplatelet therapies (acetyl-salicylic acid and clopidogrel).
Bleeding time, INR, coagulation factor Xa, fasting hyperglycemia, glycated hemoglobin, and thyroid function indicators were among the clinical variables that the researchers tracked. The findings were encouraging—no adverse effects were observed, and participant compliance topped 96% over the research period. Most significantly, across all outcome measures, researchers did not discover any significant adverse interactions between supplementing with Berberine and any of the drugs under investigation.
"This study is further evidence that supplements are safe and effective at 'supplementing' your body's ability to get and stay healthy even when taking medications," notes Dr. John Cromwell, D.C., P.C. of Cromwell Family Chiropractic. "Cromwell Family Chiropractic and Cromwell Nutrition are pleased to offer high-quality anti-inflammatory supplements like Berberine and chiropractic adjustments to all who wish to advance their health and help their pain."
The results are especially noteworthy in light of the increasing interest in integrative approaches to health management, which combine evidence-based nutritional supplements like Berberine Phytosome with traditional treatments.
